Hey all
This is no major issue but one of those little ones that drives me a little nuts.
Whenever I go to fuel up, Put the nozzle in the filler tube and lock the pump trigger, It will pump for about 3 seconds and then the lever will trip. I can move the nozzle in, out, up ,down. It does not matter. Its a biatch to put fuel in my tank. And it happens at every station I go to. It pisses off the guys at the full serve stations. Is this a common second gen problem? Or is this one of black bettys quirks?
Thanks
JIGA

My 2000xlt does this but i I put the handle of the pump handle turned towards the rear of the vehicle it allows the fuel to flow freely and not trip. Another trick is to set it to automatically pump but only put it in the first lock on the pump handle.

its possibly an issue with your fuel vapor control system (canister purge)

If its not purging the vapors it can build up in the tank and the escaping fumes now shut off the nozzle

At least thats what it was on my BII, you may also want to check your gas cap

Never thought of turning it to the rear. I will give that a shot at my next trip to the pump, should be soon (5.0 33's lol) As far as the first lock on the trigger, I have the patience of a 2 year old so I know that would'nt work well for me.
Thanks alot for your time

I do notice that when I release the gas cap there is no pssssssssss like I am used to In previous rigs. Could that mean anything?
Thanks

Hey 410
After reading what you said about it possibly being the gas cap my dumbass thought " What the hell would that matter seeing as how the gas cap is off when I am fueling up" Then I thought about it for a couple minutes and it makes complete sense to me now. As usual, You are the man! I got nothing to loose but to buy a new gas cap.
Oh and by the way, There is an 85-95 year old guy that lives down the road from me that drives around in a mint b2. No mods to it but it has clearly been barely driven an garaged. I have been keeping an eye out hoping to run into him to see what his thoughts are on possibly selling her at some point. I have always loved the b2. So if by chance I can buy that cherry off of him when he no longer can drive it, You will be the first person I will look to for help.
Thanks again
JIGA

I know this is a fairly old thread however I'm a new Ex owner in sunny Scotland having similar problems.

why would changing the fuel cap help?????

happy to try it but getting parts here can be "problematic"

cheers,
Graham
