Accually that is the way low range it SUPPOSED to work! Dead Link Removed At least in my jeep it does! Why do you think Rick got that Atlas II? Dead Link Removed Its so you don't have to clutch the dang thing so damned much to get over things that are fairly easy to get over with a low range like that. You should be able to put it in low and in 1st and push the brake down and not stall even I would think.

The engine will stall if you do that Ryan. I just got back from some more testing and I'm still learning the capabilities and limitations of the T-case. I didn't air my tires down at all today and I was definately limited traction in a few situations. There were two steep hills that I tried to climb, both had verticle ledges near the top. The first hill I made it up with my front tires and my backs kept sliding everytime I hit the ledge. I'm sure I could have made that one with low pressure.

The other hill had a series of holes and a ledge. I don't know if lower pressure would have helped much there. I think that one would require either taller tires or Boggers to crawl up. I wasn't attempting to use any speed/ momentum on these hills just crawl-ability.

There were plenty of hills that I did crawl up successfully. On some of them I was able to start in 3rd gear and keep it there all the way up while in low range.

The transfer case sits about 2" lower than the stock unit so I need to build a new skid plate. I'll ask Torrey if how much he would charge for another crossmember like mine. Do you have an auto or manual? i can't remember.

Did you ever get a price on these transmission crossmembers? My tranny is an auto, and the only difference would be that I need to mount the tabs above the frame rail instead of below, to make room for the 79 Bronco radius arm brackets.

hey i have a little bronco ii and i just dropped a 4.0 in it. i have fought the exhaust every step of the way. i bought headers for it and now the cats r in the way of the cross member. do i actually need both or does your explorer do alright with just the one?

I moved my (aftermarket) cat back to where the muffler used to be. I have this theory that it will keep my tranny cooler.
