Hey people, i'm new here, and i've just bought a '98 XLT explorer.

My goals are to make a sweet street cruiser that can still go off road occaisionaly as i plan to do some road trips in it.

Glad i found this forum, in australia the explorer was an import so theres not that many of them on the roads, which is partly a good thing...

G'day mate great to see you here .mate this forum is dangerous too many ideas and no moolah but we can always dream with what these guys in the US have and what we have mate ,we're not on the same planet but the help when in diabolicles is amazing I've saved heaps through these forums good luck cheers Foxy

Thanks for all the welcome posts guys!

Foxy, g'day mate good to see another aussie on here, my first question for you is have you had the timing chain problem and if you have how much did it cost you to fix it?

I have been searching forums and reasearching and i've heard of people having to fork out $4000-5000 to fix this in australia and it worries me a bit!

The 98 XLT i have just bought has done 136,000kms and no major noises yet, does it pretty much happen on all of these 2nd gen models or do some get by without it happening?
