I've had auto hubs issues and finally pulled them off last night.

It turns out that one locking hub is loose and not being held by its internal spring mechanism anymore.

Can it be rebuilt easily by removing the clip inside? I think it'd be difficult to then press the hub back in to hold the spring down while putting the clip back on?

After further investigation, it turns out that the spring works fine but the hub is "shoved in". What I mean by that is the hub sits deeper than it should. In locked-in position, the teeth go well beyond the hub internal ridge. Which would cause the hub not to engage probably.

In most positions the hub can be pressed in and probably won't lock.

The tension required to press the spring in is quite considerable so I wouldn't recommend taking the hub apart unless you have appropriate tools for re-assembly.

It looks like I need a new hub!

I pulled my hubs apart, it was a bit of a PITA to get the ring back in, I used my drill press as a press. Take it apart and see if you can fix it. What do you have to loose?

You've read the hub fix thread I take it?
