Auto lamp install

OK so I just got a 2000 sport not to long ago. And as for options it does not have many. So I'm the kind that does not like to splice wires if I can just plug something in. So I went to the junk yard and pulled a mirror and the wiring for it. Brought it home and plugged it in the and got nothing. So I started looking for info on here about it can cant find any thing. So where is the location of the relay for the autolamps so I can see if its there or not. I know this should plug and play but its not working that way. I did this same thing to my dads 97 xlt and it worked just fine.

I'm also looking for a relay for the auto lamps. I just bought a 2000 Mountaineer, and the auto lamps do not work. The switch on the mirror appears to be working correctly. When I slide the switch to the right (in the dark) the indicator on the mirror lights up, but no headlights. the only way the headlights come on is with the dashboards switch.

I've tried removing every relay I could find while the autolamp indicator on the mirror is on, the indicator stays lit.

if your truck didnt have it from factory, it isnt a plug and play. my 98 didnt have it, and i had to spice some wires for it.

I'm sure my mountaineer came with the autolamp, it just doesn't work. the man I bought it from never even changed the air filter, I'm sure he didn't add a autolamp mirror
