Recently, while driving my '02 Mountaineer on the highway, I've been experiencing a noise I can only describe as a "rumble". It happens mainly between 60 - 70 mph, under very light throttle, and going slightly uphill brings the problem out quickly. It doesn't quite cause the truck to shudder, but almost. If I give it more gas, it goes away. I've also heard/felt this problem between 35 - 40 mph as well. I've got about 56K miles on it. Any ideas before I bring it to the dealer?

Thanks

I have been experiencing this also. Does it kinda sound like water boiling or valves rattling? I can't really describe it either

Here's an update:

On Sunday, while driving on the highway in NH, the message center beeped, and it said "check transmission". Also, the o/d off light was flickering. All of this stopped after I made a stop and shut it off for a few minutes. I took it to the dealer yesterday, and today they finally were able to reproduce it. They told me it is the Torque Converter, and some solenoid in the tranny, all of which is covered under my extended warranty.

I guess mine sounded more like water boiling. it wasn't a rattle, but more of a rumble...
