Auto Trans shifting hard in all gears!

I have a 98 4.0L 2wd ranger and it is shifting severely hard in all gears and at all speeds and i dont know much about the ranger trans yet! Can anyone help me out?

Welcome to this forum! Do you have a flashing overdrive light or a check engine light?

No i don't. My truck is not even flashing a single check engine code. I was thinking my problem was it the TR Sensor, but wouldn't a faulty sensor set a code.? I just replaced my tranny filter yesterday and changed the fluid to see if it cleared up, but it still shifts just as hard. I also checked all my u joints and I'm pretty sure its not my rear end.

It might be a good idea to get the codes read anyway. Sometimes there could be a code stored which will not flash a check engine or overdrive light. Hard shifts might indicate the transmission going into FMEM (limp) mode.

Well i replaced the TR Sensor and my ranger is still shifting really hard, its been about two days since that was replaced and i was hoping it would clear up, but it has not. what else could it be!

Assuming it's an Automatic...

Dif vehicle, but a solenoid was replaced on mine when it started shifting into Reverse like that. Not sure about the spelling, but that's what was replaced and I have no more issues with hard shifting. Suerte!
