O/D Off flashing-Trans shifting hard

Has anyone had a trans problem where the O/D Off light flashes and the transmission shifts harder from 1st to 2nd? It also shifts harder from 2nd down to 1st. Any ideas? The trans shop wants $600 to take it apart and see what the problem is. They've already done a road test and electronic test.

I have a 97 sport and in the past year there have been about three ocations when the O/D light started to flash. But I don't know what causes it. I you find out I would love to know it.

When your light was flashing, did it just stop after a while? How long did it flash? They tell me it's an electronic problem. When I find out what's going on with it I'll let you know.

It continued to flash untill I turned it off and then on again.
