2016 Ford Explorer XLT
Hello,

I just picked up my Ford Explorer 2016 XLT.. Just a quick question.. Is it possible to make ALL Doors unlocked the moment you put the car on Park Mode? Meaning without turning off the ignition or driver door being opened..

Basically what happens is, i put it to park, driver and passenger side opens just by pulling the handle but the rear doors wont open unless they pull up that latch thing..(not sure what its called exactly)..

Any help is appreciated.

The owners manual will advise, but if you go to the menu for settings on left side of gauge cluster, you will see this/these options.

Yeah i read the manual and played through the settings but it still wont do it.. I was hoping for a more detailed explanation..

All I want is the rear passenger door to behave like the driver's door.. like it auto unlocks when the car is on park even though the engine is running..

Rear doors do not unlock until the ignition is turned off (stop button pressed).

Oh i see.. I wish it has that option.. It would be nice if i just had to drop someone off..

"Supposedly" pulling the handle twice unlocks the door, but it hasn't worked on my 2016 EX and I get yelled at frequently from the wife.

yeah, i tried that too and it didnt work.. i know i can easily push the button or they can pull the lock up but for an over 40K vehicle, i was just expecting that..

It may be a good idea to add the 2016 XLT to your profile so it shows in place of the 2005 Cobalt. If you still have that one, you can add it to your signature.
Do you have the 'autounlock' feature enabled so it can be set up? I also thought I read a post where it said that putting the 2016 model in Park would unlock the doors. That is something previous models couldn't do. In the meantime, instead of having back seat passengers trying to lift the manual lock button, why not just press the Unlock button on the driver's door?

lol. i'll do that. thanks.. i dont normally post here unless i need to so forgot about it..

To be fair - I don't recall any new car I've been in being able to unlock and open the rear doors while the car has moved.

Bet money it's a mandated child safety thing - over and beyond the needs of the old child safety locks.
