autodimming mirror install

I have it and am thinking of installing it. the wire harness has a plug with a 5 wires, I have the info of what these wires are but don't know where to tap them into my truck (ranger 2004 XLT). I just installed an overhead console with lighted visers and since the harness has this feature , Well why not install the mirror I pulled these goodes from an explorer in the junk yard for $21.00 I liked the price so well i went for it but am stuck on how to wire up the mirror.

I just hooked the main power wire to my switched power running to the overhead console, and a chassis ground. Only 2 wires, works great- the rest I didn't mess with. One is just an override for reverse, but I didn't hook that one up- more hassle than it's worth...

cool there are 2 power wires I think you mean the red wire to green power wire?

I pulled a mirror out of a '02 Mounty.

It had 3- power, ground, and backup override.

What did the mirror come out of? It could be for the autolamp... Mine is just a mirror...

not sure of the year but the mirror has a 5 pin connector red is power, ground I can connect, the other 3 are for auto lights and stuff I dont have yet. I be looking for the wire to tap the red power into. Is it one of the dome lights wires if so which one ? What wire is the switched power u connected into?

The Mirror I got is a Gentex-104 that has 5-wires in the plug. They are:

Color Purpose

Red with Yellow Stripe Auto Lamp Sensor Power
Orange with White Stripe Auto Headlights
Black Ground
Black with Pink Stripe Back Up Lamp Input
White with Purple Stripe Power (Hot in Run)

I bought one that has five wires with these colors.
What exactly are all functions of this mirror?
