I was wondering if there is some sort of safety feature built in to stop the seats from stowing if there is an object or person in the way.

This weekend I hit the "stow" for the right hand seat and noticed that one of my golf clubs was there. I managed to get it out before the seat got to far along. But that got me thinking what if a child was back there or if children were playing. It seems like the seats should automatically stop if they sense an obstruction.

Does anyone know if that's the case?

Also, the 2nd row seats snap forward when the strap is pulled. Again if kids are playing or if an adult is not paying attention, it seems that someone could get hurt.

PowerFold third-row seat (if equipped)

The third row seat features a power one-touch operation that allows you
to adjust the Left, Right, or Both seats into a NORMAL, STOW or FOLD
position with just one touch of a button. The third row seat also includes
obstacle detection that allows the seat to stop and reverse direction if it
hits an obstacle so that the obstacle can be removed

It did stop.

I have very limited info to offer regarding the 2011 Ex (mine is "sitting in Chicago") except this test drive situation. It's actually kind of funny.

While preparing to test drive a 2011 lmtd the salesman was showing me the benefits of ordering the "auto" 3rd row, He activated the seat from the rear control and promptly crushed the GENERAL MANAGERS childs crayons.

In fairly short order, the seat stopped. I'm not sure if it reversed or not.

From what I saw, your golf clubs are safe crayons are not.

I'd say - it depends. If it's a child/person or something with a little size - yes, mine stops every time. Crayon, maybe not. ;)

from experience, there is obstacle detection... and reversal of direction.

I haven't tested it thoroughly but my all-weather floor-mats where stored in the back when I took delivery of my EX and it set off this safety feature when the salesman was demonstration the electronic 3rd row seat functionality.

3rd row seats

our 3rd row seat do not stop. they will crush anything in the back area, and the only way to get them back is to pull them.

Isn't that a feature? Automated child storage seats?! ;)

I tested our third row with a back pack left in the seat, they did stop.

3rd row seats

has anyone gone back to the dealer concerning the defect in the operation of these seats?

What defect? Mine stop if there is something is in the way. Everyone else in this thread (other than you) said that theirs did too.

mine also stopped when the my wife accidentally hit the button and we still had the stroller in there.

3rd row seats

I just placed a cooler on top the weathertech mat and pushed the button. the seats went as far as they could and stopped. They did not finish the entire cycle, and had to be pulled back manually. Must be an isolated problem. Thanks guys

Yes mine stop as well. I guess Jim911 is the only GM employee on here with defective seats! LMAOSHMSFOAIDMT

I hate when my sombrero falls off, and it is just insult to injury when I drop my taco at the same time!

3rd row seats

Thank you my sarcastic friends, I thought we all had the same goal
