I have a 2001 Explorer Sport that has the mounts on the frame and rear axle, but no shock going between the two. With my X being mostly an on-road vehicle, is it beneficial to have this? Is there an aftermarket unit available?

I wouldn't bother. A lot of us have taken it off and seen no difference.

It's worthless and you won't notice any difference. Ford stopped issueing these a few yrs ago.

My 2001 4 door came with one. I believe they only put them on the 4 door models now.
