In the front you would need longer A arms, cv joints, steering components, brake lines. plus harder springs, the longer arm will make more torque around the torsion bar.

rear i dont know what would work. maybe an f150 axel. but you would have to move the pirches for the springs.

i would like to get wider axels too. the easy way would be to get some rims with back spacing. but you cant get more than an inch or there will be problems with wheel bearings breaking

I got a 2wd truck, but i'll look at those longer axles..............up front. Whoever I bought my truck from had long brake lines in the truck and the trucks got torsion bars up front. 2001 Sport, same as the 02 and 03........cv joints are something that I didnt think about and tie rod ends, etc.........are there mustang parts that I can probably switch over?

if your 2wd then you won't need cv axles. All 2nd gen explorers have torsion bar front suspensions. There are no aftermarket kits to extend the front suspension on a lowered explorer. Dixon brothers makes a long travel lift kit, and parts of that may be able to be modified to work on a lowered explorer but you would have to contact them about that and see if they would be willing to work with you. Other than that your only options are different wheels, or wheel spacers.

Thank you, I guess I will do tougher wheel studs as well. I modded my torsion bars in order to lower the front end. I heard of some shocks.............DJM suspension, a universal set. i just tell the type of links my shocks have and what i want the travel length to be. Being that my truck is already sitting lower by 3 inches, I know i gotta calculate that in, but honestly, I know nothing about DJM..............but i'd rather be on the safe side and go for a brand I know, like Edelbrocks lowered shocks that are suppose to be for explorers lowered by 1.5 to 1.6 inches.......or by rancho...........

I know some guys run nitro slammers or something like that and are happy with them they're pretty cheap too. The edelbrock lowering shocks are actually stock length with different valving, 3" is probably getting pretty close to their usable limits. Another option is to go to a coilover front suspension and get rid of the stupid torsion bars and fix your shock problem all in one shot. A guy on ranger forums in making kits for that. Then you would just need to choose a shock and spring that would fit. The ride and handling will improve a lot from this.
