2002 Explorer XLT 4.6L
Hi I'm max I'm new here. I have an 02' explorer XLT 4.6L that I purchased from a lady almost a year ago. I bought it with a bad coolant leak. I had that fixed there was a crack in the intake manifold (very common). I purchased the new IM at o'rileys and haven't had any problems with my explorer since it has been installed almost 10,000 miles ago.

Last night I was headed to the grocery store when I stopped at a light and noticed smoke. I immediately pulled over and checked under the hood to find coolant on the passenger side of the engine bay and no real clue on where it was coming from. I headed back home and parked it.

This morning I ran (idle) the vehicle up to temperature and again it started to smoke and smell coolant.

Finally I had found the culprit after 30 mins of looking.

It's spitting coolant out of three pin holes from this "cap"

I would appreciate any info on this part and info on what it does.

I appreciate any help you all will be willing to give.

Yikes
Welcome to the forums
It has something to do with the coolant obviously, my guess is some sort of cap over a waterjacket, but I won't say that is what it is
