I have a 93 explorer 4x4 and it was running fine i parked it then started it to move it 20-30 mins later and it wasnt wanting to idle or respond to throttle input almost 2 years ago the muffler got ripped off while i was going through a trail so i have maybe 3 inches of exhaust pipe after my catalytic converter i also have flame shooting about 5 ft out of the pipe any help would be much appreciated

flames shooting out of the exhaust?
Unburnt fuel = running really rich

Short exhaust after the cat converter is not going to hurt anything, except being very loud and you may lose some low end torque due to lack of back pressure.

Check fuel pressure at the rail you are running way rich, fuel is getting through without being burned

Thanks for the reply ill have to get a tester and check it out im wondering if an injector might be stuck open flooding a cylinder but new development it ran fine for about 10 minutes then had its freakout for 10 then ran fine again
