I NEED SOME IDEAS THIS STARTED AFTER I HAD THE BLEND DOOR PROBLEM,, I AM GETTING ABOUT 9 TO 10 MPG IN CITY AND 12.7 HWY THIS IS NOT GOOD! ITS A 95 LIMITED WITH 4.0(DOUTHINK) 120,000 ON IT. I HAVE CLEANED MAF, IAC, AND 1 O2 SEN. IS NEW, NO CODES OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND RESET THE COMPUTER EACH TIME (OVERNIGHT). IT IS RUNNING GOOD AT IDLE, NO MISSING OR HES. BUT REAL DOGGY ON THE TAKE OFF, AND ITS ALSO HAS BEEN MAKING A LITTLE POPPING NOISE ON TAKE OFF MED THOTTLE AND NOT OUT THE AIR FILTER, BUT DOES NOT DO IT WHEN YOU REV IT UP,ONLY IN GEAR. WHICH GOT ME THINKING EGR BUT DONT KNOW! BLOWS GOOD HEAT, TEMP IS WHERE IT SHOULD BE, THE OVERDRIVE IS WORKING, NEW PLUGS AND WIRES! I HAVE HAD 4 EXPLORERS NOW AND LOVE THEM BUT THIS ONE I AM READY TO GET THE GUN OUT!!! IF ANYONE COULD GIVE ME SOME IDEAS OR SOMETHING TO TRY. THANKS ROB

Have you checked the timing?

Might be a bad FPR. And please don't type in all caps.

Hello, Yes I have check the timing and it is right now!
Do you think replaceing the one o2 sen would be throwing the rest off? And now do you tell if the egr is bad? thanks for the help,, Rob

hmmm.....sounds like a 1st gen version of Darkfox's Lemoneer (Mountaineer if you didn't know);) :D

Usually it's the DPFE sensor that is bad, not the EGR. Also, the lines running from DPFE to the EGR clog up with gunk. If they were bad though, you should be getting a CEL. Fuel Pressure Regulator is another definite possibility. If it goes bad, it will lead to other problems downstream like bad O2's.

Do you have a lead foot? Today I filled up my '99 SOHC Sport with 15.6 gals, drove it 166.1 miles. Thats 10.647 miles/gal, and I will admit, I have a very heavy foot and 4.10s, so I expected it. I don't know about all the technical crap (I'm an explorer n00b) but if your driving habits are very aggressive, that might be a big factor.

Hello, I am not easy on it but not hard either the wife drives this one and she isnt hard on it . We were getting around 16 city and 22 hwy. I took it to work to night and the avg mile thing brop to 7.8 its getting worse!! last night I cleaned the maf, iac, and the throttle body ( removed it and cleaned it was very dirty) and unhooked the battery over night to reset. It is running alittle better power wize, I think the thottle body had something to do with that. The intake had oily fulm in it , got what I could but going to check the pvc setup (replace and clean),, but we dont use any oil in beteen oil changes ANY Mileage still bad !!!!

Rob

I still think it's the FPR.
