The weather is supposed to be good this week. Maybe you could finish your project?

I hope to tomorrow,Brooklyn. I've been icing down my knee for 2 days.:( Hopefully the knee will allow me to get on it tomorrow. Don't know what I did to it,but it hurts to walk.I picked up Wal-Mart's best knee brace today.

Yeah,I've got other vehicles, but I really want to get this van back on the road. I love driving it. don-ohio (:^)

Hmmmm......bad knee and late snow squall limited me to a few hours on it today. WAS gonna take the radiator(pulled both hoses) out for more access, but tranny fittings are frozen so far.Just got the tensioner off and also pulled idle pulley which the bearing is bad.
Borrowed the tool for the fan clutch and then that snow squall hit.
Linda has my afternoon planned for tomorrow,so I'm kinda stuck working in stints of a coupla hours. Pretty cold here til about noonish.
I guess I'm getting soft...LOL! don-ohio (:^)

PROGRESS Report:
Was 9 degrees here this AM and my wife had my afternoon planned for me.:(SOoooo.....I got to work on it about an hour AFTER going to Advance Auto and getting the CORRECT 24.95 fan clutch removal kit. This is part AC660 I think. It has the wrench and the holder 55mm wide that slips over the pulley bolts. THIS one works! I got down to the bare bones of almost removing my water pump.Tomorrow she has another trip planned to the Doctor's office,so I'll try again in the late AM hopefully.I'm finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel.LOL!

Okay,Brooklyn! Yeah,it's winter and I can't drive the Mustang, don't wanna drive either of the Lincoln LSes to work if I don't have to. Gotta have the Aerostar! don-ohio (:^)

Don, what years are the LS? what motors?

I've just gotten an '03 cherry V8 with only 65K miles, one owner, never seen snow and all maintenance done regularly.Ivory parchment color and nearly all accessories.
I own an ''04 Ceramic white with 136K miles that needs valve cover gaskets soon and the COPs(coil over plugs) and spark plugs changed.Hard to do on it for it's the V6. It's not too fancy, but a great car.
Do you own any? don-ohio :)

Not the LS, I own a 1989 merkur scorpio, 1986 xr4ti, 1987 ranger, 1966 f100 4wd, 1968 merc. Cougar, 1999 jeep grand Cherokee and my 1991 aerostar. My driveway is the land of forgotten fords.

Is the 68 cougar in good shape? don-ohio (:^)

The 68 is in decent shape. It hasn't been restored so the interior shows its age, but it is 100% complete with no rust. I put a 4R70W in place of the C4 and the 8 inch rear got changed to an 8.8 out of a 97 explorer (3.73 ls). I traded the C4 for a 4 bbl carb and edelbrock performer rpm intake. I put long tubes and borla S type mufflers on with no resonators so just like my van, you know I'm coming a mile away. It still turns heads and burns rubber through 3rd gear. :D

i killed two 1968 cougars back when i was younger.id like to have another xr7.

Well, I finished the fan clutch, fan, water pump, thermostat, drive belt, new clamps, and new antifreeze at 65/35 ratio to water.
Turned on both front and rear heaters and carefully kept it topped up as it bubbled out the air. Then the thermostat opened and more air came out.
Everything seems okay. Thanks for the advice and well wishes! don-ohio (:^)

Thanks,Brooklyn!

I would like to add that it appears the 4.0 fan clutch has right hand threads, but the 3.0 may have left hand threads. When a person gets the new fan clutch they can tell by looking. don-ohio (:^)

Very good point don. The 4.0 has a reverse rotation fan, I think the 3.0 is standard rotation so even if it fits it still needs to be correct rotation.
