Bad water pump?

If you can borrow an inductive bolt heater, they are worth their weight in GOLD for this job

Update I have successfully removed the stud bolts with no mishap. I have removed said water pump. I stopped after that as I was freezing. I figured I'd pick up after work to get the whole area cleaned for replacement My downstairs neighbor thought he was helping me by closing my hood, unfortunately my ground blanket and cardboard were sitting atop my engine and my hood is stuck. I have tension in the cable latch inside but it feels like the outside release lever is not engaging. I can't push it down, pull it up and I watched a tone of videos and none of them helped me. I do not see another lever next to it I side, I do not see a place to stick the screw driver. I hate to stop I was frustrated any advice?? I don't want to break it and I can't reach the stuff inside..CJ

Any chance you can have a heavy friend sit on the hood while you pull the cable?

Well I'm probably the heaviest friend I have, but imagine how many of my Colorado friends have fallen off the planet since I started working on my truck.. I tried to prop the inside lever open and the went out and stood on it . I opened the lever inside a bunch of times. I still feels like i can't get the outside release to engage.

Ok
First
Use a crescent wrench to grab the metal bracket which the cable slides thru under dash, and bend it forward toward firewall about 3/8"

Now, while you have your weight on hood, have neighbor pull handle. This will take 2 people, heaviest on hood. Bounce on hood if you have to while other person maintains pull on lever, they might even give it a good jerk while your weight is on the front of hood. Trying to compress blanket to release the hook

I will give it a shot thank you otherwise I am going to try and unscrew the bolts that hold it there .👍

I agree with these dudes

If that fails You can get in there with a screwdriver and release the little latch the cable pulls sometimes
Flashlight
Long flathead
Oook at where cable comes into latch
Through the grill from drivers side
I Am often able to release these things after the cable stretched breaks or handle quite releasing no matter how hard you pull on cable
Some years are easier then others
