ive got an 03 mountaineer that i bought and ive got a bad wheel speed sensor somewhere... ive got an ABS light on and the code reader says its a wheel speed sensor... my AWD doesn't work and i was wondering if the AWD could malfunction due to a malfunctioning wheel speed sensor? the front wheels do spin on jack stands.

To answer your question no the AWD system uses no electronics it is 100% mechanical. Why do you think the AWD is not working?

i can floor it in the snow and just the rear tires spin the fronts don't engage... on jack stands the front turn but don't seem to be working when on the ground

Well that's a good test, sadly in the AWD system that can only be the transfer case (well the viscous coupling in the case).
