Badging removal

Has anyone removed the badging from your truck?

Please describe what you did and what technique(s) you used for the removal.

If your talking about the logo on the rear use fishing line. Slide the line underneath the badge to remove it. Then use spray nine to remove the glue. This is the best way to do it so that you don't scratch your ride.

which badges are you talking about? I removed my side ones V-8 .. heat it up with a hair dryer and peel it off. For the rear I just ripped it off.... but there are holes under everything but the V-8 ones

Fishing line works excellent, i have a friend who used it to paint his gt logo's on his pontiac red. It should work good. Is there a way to get the new Explorer logo's installed on a 96 xlt explorer? That'd look cool. i wonder where you would buy them? does ford sell them?>

Thanks for the ideas guys.

I just used a heat gun and some acetone and off they came with no trouble and no mess.

There were NO holes under the EXPLORER and XLT lettering on rear.

Looks so much better w.o ther lettering.

How hard would it be to remove the Ford emblem on the back as well? And does anyone know about how much it would cost to have the holes from it filled?

I dont think the one on the 91-94 are bolted. They added bolts in 95 I think because the emblem was larger and heavier.

I'm not positive, but its not as large as the 95-97 emblem so I dont see why it'd be bolted.

all i know is I took the explorer off the back of my 96 and there are 3 holes... but no bolts or nuts... also the ford emblem on the rear is not bolted either but 2 holes....

I bought the 98+ rear explorer emblem at ford for $19 hoping it would cover the holes for the 96 but they didnt

On my 91, when I put the Lumilogo on, there were holes behind the Ford oval logo, but it wasn't bolted( must have changed their minds ). I don't believe there was anything behind the EXPLORER XLT one, it's just stuck on.

When I removed the EXPLORER and the XLT ( on my 99 ), they were individual letters simply attached with an adhesive and there were no holes.

right- on the 98+ explorers the EXPLORER emblem are seperate letters with no holes. The reasone for the holes behind the ford emblem I believe it to line them up- there shoud be little pegs on the back

Heck, I'm damn proud to be driving my FORD EXPLORER, and I actually just got a 10" FORD blue oval decal to add to my truck!....Drives the J**P'ers crazy to see those FORDS showing them up on the trail :-D

Gee Ray, Explorer's are OK but...

When you consider style, versatility, dependability, and general usefullness of a vehicle, how can we stand in comparison to a 1989 Olds Cutlass Calais???
Well, I guess we could more appropriately compare Oldsmobile's SUV, the Bravada, ******* cousin to the Blazer, to our Ford Explorer SUV.
Hmmm, can't seem to find a single link to the Olds Bravada Club, nor any articles / references exclaiming the trail worthiness of same.
BTW, isn't Olds calling it quits?
That Calais might become a collectable. I've seen several of them proudly displayed as yard ornaments.

hey now... don't mock my rocket. She may be a bit rough on some body panels, but she can take me wherever I wanna go. Sure Oldsmobile is calling it quits, but they're just taking Jerry Seinfeld's route, they want to stop while they're ahead.

Another thing though....a 10" blue oval? Why the heck would you want to obscure your vision with something like that? I can't understand why people don't think that the badging on the vehicle is enough. Why bother going through the pain of removing the badging if you're going to slap on an obnoxious sticker that sends out the same message??

Like I was saying earlier, my Rocket's a bit rough.. especially around the wheel wells. Y'all think I ought to go ahead and cut them flares and lift her? Think it'd be cool to have a one of a kind 2 door sports car with a 6 inch lift and 33's on it. This way I'd be able to go wherever it is you guys go in the woods. Surely you guys need something to pull you out of those mud puddles.

Oldsmobile isnt ahead by any means lol.

I had one, an 83 Cutlass Calais actually. Not bad for the day, but not again. The engine blew up in it in 1987 and I traded it on an Aerostar for my wife. Recently my wife's 78 Ford LTD II had suffered a similar fate, and I traded it on an 87 Chrysler Fifth Avenue, but it was much older than the Cutlass was, 8 vs. 4 years. If you ask me, all of GM in its current state is disgrace to the automotive industry.

Its Ford for me over GM any day, for any vehicle.
