balance shaft

Has anyone just removed this. I ran a non balance shaft motor in my 2002 4x4 xlt and never notice a difference. A drunk pulled out in front of me a totaled my truck. I bought another one with a bad motor. Bought a used motor for $50. I took the good cassettes and tensioners and put them in the $50 motor. However the balance shaft tensioner on both motors is broke

If you remove the balance shaft you'll have to plug the oil paths or your engine will lose oil pressure. If you don't want to replace the balance shaft chain tensioner (which is a pain because the block cradle normally has to be removed) just remove the chain.
