Went offroading and my battery came loose and pulled some wires from the positive and negative cables. I was able to reconnect most of them to start my X back up again but I was unable to connect one wire from the negative terminal because of lack of length. Its a small wire that goes to a ground on the passenger fender. Ive been driving around with it disconnected and havent had any problems. What does this wire do?

Probably a general ground... grounds are good to have. Might want to reconnect it, even if you have to lengthen the wire.

Just to reinforce Arco's reply, I went through considerable efforts to redo all my engine grounds and found 1 volt of power and untold amps ground up do to insufficient grounds. I noticed it most at startup and when driving at night with my lights and stereo on. Volt and amp meters don't lie. It was very interesting since I did not know I had an issue.
