Yeah... Old Orchard beach is another great place to camp in Maine. I try to go every summer. Link is here :http://www.oldorchardbeachmaine.com/Welcome.htm

OOO OOO OOO can we think bout this place too??? PLEASE PLEASE It's a shorter drive for most of us & it looks most citified for me. We can even still do cabins & stuff or motels. All with indoor plumbing & showering facilites!!!!

Its a great summertime place to go but I have no idea if there are any off road trails up there. I found a nice campground up there that I stay every year. Its right here:

I was at OOB once in late June and the weather was miserable. It was in the 40s and dreary all weekend. Blech. I'll keep Baxter on the schedule for now, though, and make a mental note of OOB if anyone finds good enough evidence of wheelin' trails.

Yeah, but there are no cabins unless you want to spend $1,000 for a week. Personally I'd rather go up to Baxter where cabin prices are reasonable

Besides I just read this on their FAQS page:

Do you accept singles?

We are a family camping resort and we cater to couples and families. Sorry, no groups of singles are accepted in order to provide our customers with a quiet and peaceful vacation.

Chances are OOB will be hella-crowded that weekend, too, since all the lazy people will settle for the beach. All the cool people will know where else to go. :p:

I was'nt trying to change anyones mind from baxter to OOB. I was just wondering how far baxter was from OOB. As for the weather, Its hit or miss wherever we go. This is new england after all lol.

I think Jen's just too shy to go bathe in a pond.....:D

Yeah whatever!! I've gone skinny dipping before but not in freezing water. Plus soap & shampoo don't quite work right in cold water, sticks & leaves a residue.

You'll just have to do it under the sun when it's good and toasty, won'tcha? :D

OOB to Baxter State Park Toll booth is 232 Miles. Takes 4 hours 40 mins. Count on $80 worth of fuel at 16 mpg (Round trip and local driving at 15 mph).

That and you can't introduce soap products into the water anyway..

True but natural soap products don't harm the natural eco system. So I guess we all have to hillbilly it & heat up a big metal tub & share bath time till the water gets cold!?!?!:D
Really just kidding people....

See? Like I said.....:p:

Baxter State Park does not have any showers, Depending on how many days we plan on going there, it might be ok. But I cant go more then 1 day without a shower. Whats everyones feelings?

I would rather have a shower everyday myself but I was thinking of bringing this big plastic tub that we could heat up some water & use as a basin. OOB has cabins & stuff all with amenities for a decent price if we wanna look into that as well. Not the Paradise place but the original link to OOB itself.
