What are the best bolt-on performance parts for a 1991 XLT 4.0 V6 4X4?
Ordered the exhaust (Flowmaster Super 44) and looking for a Cold Air Intake, can't find one. Any suggestions?
Throttle Body Mod, Underdrive Pulleys, Electric Fan
In that order.

I'd go for 3" exhaust from the muffler(s) back myself......It's the 1st mod I'm gonna do 2 my '94 is dual Glasspacks with 3" exhaust pipes.
love the sound of dual Cherry bombs......
Where can you find underdrive pullies? I've never seen them for a 1st gen 4.0 X.
I don't think the 3" exhaust causes any loss in power...
The OHV and SOHC versions of the 4.0L from Ford all take the same crank pulley. And Underdog Performance makes an Underdrive Pulley for the SOHC and OHV motors...same part number.
the pulleys DO give gains, but at the expense of underdriving the accessories. OK for racing, not so much for a street driver.
i heard that when she was leaving work one day. it sounded nice. The OHV and SOHC versions of the 4.0L from Ford all take the same crank pulley. And Underdog Performance makes an Underdrive Pulley for the SOHC and OHV motors...same part number.
I have 3" Cat-back exhaust on my wife's Green Explorer. It sounds awesome. I've been saying for a LONG time I am going to get a video/sound clip of the Exhaust System....maybe someday...LOL....
I don't think the 3" exhaust causes any loss in power...only adds a rumble....as you STILL have the somewhat restrictive dual cats, and y-pipe before them...lots of back pressure still to maintain the torque.
