Hey guys,

I just bought a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120 (12 foot Sit on top) and I'm trying to figure out the best way to tie it down to the stock roof rack (I have a '97 XLT)...I've done a few searches here but couldn't come up with all the info I needed. I've heard of using ratchet straps through the scupper holes or handles but are there some relatively inexpensive add-ons I can buy to help better secure it?

Thanks in advance.

I've carried a canoe by removing the crossbars on the roof and useing the foam pads made for hauling canoes etc. I ran my 2 straps over the canoe then through the open doors. While driving down the freeway I could reach up and feel that my srraps were still tight. There was no wind noise where the straps went above the door but I did have to put a few twists in the straps between the door and top of the canoe strap vibration in the wind. Total cost about $30.
