i'm not sure which one of those is the best...i have the pioneer deh-7400mp and i like it...one thing you DON"T see in the specs that i was a little bummed out about is load time...there's a load time in between all of the individual tracks...mine is sometimes up to three seconds which doesn't sound like much, but trust me, when you are riding around in your car and skipping tracks on a disc that has 180 songs on it it can be very irritating. My suggestion is to try to find one with a quick load time, i've heard that the blaupunkt one has a good sound, and a quick load time, and under 300$, but that is unconfirmed by anyone that actually owns the deck for themselves. If you"re going to test one out in the store bring your own "multi_session" disc, one of these guys will explain what that means because this post is too long already

Take a look at Dead Link Removed for good info on MP3 decks.

I have the JVC KD SH99, which is out of production, and like it a lot.

Good luck.....

yea sometime i'm gonna try to take a disk and test it out, i know what multisession means, but thanks anyway. i have heard the alpine units have a really good load time. any opinoins on the sony or alpine?

i've heard nothing but praises about the alpine...i haven't heard a lot of sony units myself but most people tell me sony head units are not the best...the sound on the alpine is good i don't know about the load time or the price...maybe someone else can give a 2nd opinion on the blaupunkt..and doesn't panasonic make one too? All i know is the pioneer has a slow load time but it's got a lot of awesome features and man it sounds great :D

i've narrowed it down the alpine and pioneer. what are peoples opinions?

i don't know enough about the features on the alpine but i can say the pioneer i have is f** AWESOME it sounds really great. Again chec,k your "load times", maybe a more high-rent pioneer than mine or an alpine has a shorter load time and i can say this would make a big difference; it's really the only complaint i have about my deck... maybe someone owns an alpine mp3 and wants to throw out some thoughts on that?

does anyone know anything about the load time of the pioneer 840mp, any pro's and cons of either pioneer or alpine?

Since you sound concerned about price, i recommend the sony MP3 HU that reatils for around $250, or an aiwa. Both brands are reliable, and easy to use.

if i was to buy one, i would spend the money on the pioneer or alpine, which one do u guys think is better? or are they just completely different?
