I know everyone here, myself included, love their X, my 92 is great off road. But we can all admit that the new 2002 X's are not the best for off roadin. If you were to buy an new SUV year 2000+ what would u get? I was watchin i think 4x4 magazine the tv show, and they rated the new supercharged Xterra as one of the best of the shelf vehicles. Anyother input?

My experience is this, if you are going to do serious off-roading, it's better to do it with an older, cheaper vehicle and put the money you saved into mods. Nothing is going to be great off-road off the showroom floor (ok, maybe Hummer ((but for that much money, it better))). Mods are what make great off-roaders and what makes each one an individual!

I have no intentions on buying a new vehicle, at least for four-wheelin, Still a college student. I plan on buyin a little car, then really fixin up my X, if and when i ever finish school.
It just drives me crazy seeing all theese new "SUV" most of which i wouldn't take on a dirt road let alone Offroad. Im jsut wonderin if any of them will make good, "Old trucks" for us to fix up in 10 years from now. Other than the Jeeps, I don't really see any future in the new vehicles for offroadin.

Jiimi, to answer your original question, i'd have to go with the xterra too. They have the "off road" look. They do sit up too. They are just a bit higher then my 97 with the TT and 31's. I love the look of those but i won't get rid of mine. I wish they had a little more pep for a SC though, only 210 hp, alot more then i have but for having a charger i would have expected more.

Happy trails!!

I'd like to put a huge lift on a WRX. How sweet would that be? Wonder if that is possible...? hehehe

Well Id have to say the best fourwheeler off the showroom floor would have to be the new jeep rubicon. Its got dana 44s front and rear, its locked front and rear and has 31" BFGoodrich Mud Terrains (I believe.) Its gonna be one mean out of the box 4x4 its to bad you'll see then running around town never seeing any dirt.

It pisses me off that many soccer-moms will enjoy those Rubicons before I will!

I dont think the soccermommies will be driving rubicons its to small for then, they need a suburban so they can run everyone else off the road. No most of the people who will be driving rubicons will the be the yuppies and the rich kids who will by the rubicon because they like the way it looks. They wont even know that the vehicle was designed to go 4wheeling.

Namitey, I am almost positive its going to be running the 31" goodyear MTR's on it, unless they changed it. And I also agree that it is one heck of a 4 wheeler right off the showroom floor.

It is running BFG's. No doubt the best 4x4 right now, but it's not an suv. Pretty sweet machine though. Oh if ford would have some balls, couldn't you just imagine....

Happy trails!!

I think the D90 is pretty sweet. I thinK I would take it over the jeep.

I always liked the D90, until I saw one on 90210 and my local pizza delivery guy drives one. Since then, I have thought of them as toys. But deep down, I know they are sweet. I still think I could take a used 10K X and make it phatter than any D90 or Ribucon on the road (or off) for the money. But that is just me!

the new jepp is rolling on 33's ( option ) and has electric lockers front and rear ( option )
