It's time to change out that crappy plastic intake manifold on my 2002 4.6L V8. I see there are several replacments available. Anyone have an opinion on which one is the best one to go with...and also, which one is an exact fit without having any fitness or tweaks that have to be made?

Is there an aluminum version available?

I can't tell you the best, I've only replaced the one I have. I used a Dorman part and I had two minor issues with it. The fit was good, no problems there. First problem, the replacement alternator bracket didn't fit exact, I had to go to the hardware store and get a couple of longer screws and a spacer to snug it up. Second, on the back left of the manifold is a "port" with a rubber cap that is held on by a spring type hose clamp. Under hard acceleration, that cap flew off and coolant went everywhere. So replace that hose clamp.

Also, under the stock manifold is a plastic shield that gets old and brittle. It's a noise reducer type thing. Throw it away, the Dorman does not come with a replacement.
