mickey thompson mtz? very soft tire wears out quick

Bfgoodrich mudds everybody and his mother has these good tire

yup

i heard that the mtz would last longer than the bfg's, and would be quieter on the road. the bfg are tried and true and a good tire imo, but the bfg's are simple. the mickey t's have more angels, sips, closer tread pattern, more sidebitters. both are made by good companies and have 3 ply sidewalls. i like having things a little different then the "normal" and im really leaning towards the mickey t's since the're supossed to be quieter which would be nice since i drive the truck out and back (and don't plan on getting a trailer) idk, of course i still need money! :(

Contact james t ( a member here) for info on the Cooper Discoverer STT since he works at the plant where they are made.

i've heard stt's are good too. but they cost more

I personally own the MTZs and have been very impressed with them. Here are my impressions:
http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=168487

This is a relatively new tire (for me and in general), so I cannot speak to the wear. I know Mickey's have long had a reputation for being soft and fast wearing, but I have not heard much at all about any of their new designs after Cooper bought them or noticed anything like that on the set I have. James mentioned that the Cooper STT, MTZ and Dick Cepek Mud Country were all built on the same carcass (feel free to jump in if this is not correct, James).

For some more info, the most recent issue of 4Wheel and Off-Road tested a version of the MTZ (SLT??) and the Mud Country. I am not sure what the SLT means, but the tread in the photos does look slightly different than mine. They rated the MTZ a good overall tire but slightly loud (personally I would disagree, but this maybe attributed to the SLT tread) and the Mud Country an OK overall tire with above average street manners.

Hope this helps.

i got my stt's mounted balanced and alligned for $600:D

reall? thats pretty good. it would cost a little more for me cause i need 33's though. im liking the mtz's by what kaizerm715 says about them and the price. the tire place by my house was about $163 for mtz, $180 for bfg, and like $190 for stt. but he did say that the stt's were built really strong

Dude, they're ridiculous.
My neighbor, who also has STT's, ran over a nail with them and bent the sucker in half

well it seemed that i couldn't go wrong getting either of them, but i went with the mtz's. i just like em' and think they'll do pretty good on alot of terrain.

ive only had them for three days and havn't gon offroad yet, but they perform really good on the street and aren't too loud on the freeway, they also grip really well on turns (better then my all terrains)

Lookin Good :biggthump
