Can I put larger tires on my stock 16" rims? I'd like to get a little more clearance and I live in Florida, so the larger size helps me float a bit better in deep sand.

of course you can.. i have 33's on stock.

I put 32" BFG All Terrains on my 1996 Explorer with stock 16" wheels and had plenty of clearance. Be aware, if you change tire size and don't change your speedo gear, your speedo won't read accurately.. You'll be going a couple mph slower than it says, but on the upside your odometer will show you drive less miles than you actually do.

You will be going faster than speedometer says, not slower. It will read lower, just like the odometer will read less miles.
