I've searched and searched on the site. Does anybody have a set of blacked out factory wheels 01-05 Sport Trac style? Bonus points if you have a pic of the black 5 spokes on a black ST. I've got a chance to have mine powder coated for a trade in beer, but don't know if I really want it. Any pics would be helpful. Even a regular EX with the same wheels. Thanks forum.

Both of those are outstanding. I knew the forum wouldn't fail me. I think my mind has been made up. It's going to happen, end of the summer. The ST pic is exactly what I'm thinking, minus the roof rack. Black on black with some black trim. Murdered out. Love the plastic cladding too.
To Jutgin and Turdle. How did you do it? Aircraft remover first? And what did you do about the center covers that are plastic?

Thanks for the comment, the wheels are maintenance free. Just shoot them with soapy spray and rinse. I don;t even bother drying them. I think black will be another story though-unfortunately. The water spots will be an issue to deal with , but it should ba a simple wipe. Paint would do this also--it is just the nature of black

Lots of aircraft remover and sandblasting. I do powder coating myself.
If you want a good finish which is not too shiny I strongly recommend powder from
www.powderbuythepound.com

specifically, the "PAC CAR Black" which is identical to Harley Davidson Satin--semi gloss. It has just enough shine to see there is a reflective object, but the object cannot be identified. I would compare it to the "teflon" coating

I wouldn't go any flatter ( less gloss) than that though, as you will end up with a rough surface that tends to pick up and show every little smudge.

Wrinkle black would be great, however-as it only appears satin. It is actually a very bumpy gloss which sheds dirt well

I bought center caps off ebay-you can find Generic ones if you hunt hard for them. they will come with a glossy black center, no logo at all.
Blee1099 made the center Mercury logo decals,
I shot Storm Gray duplicolor on them, applied the decals and then added about 3 coats of duplicolor wheel clear.

Thanks for the link to some good powder for the wheels. The finish you described sounds exactly like what I want. Not Flat flat, not gloss. I was kind of hoping to keep the blue oval in the middle of my center caps. Not going for the badgeless look. Just black. I'm going to look into the website you provided. The guy I have doing the powder coat is going to do my Mossberg 500 for nothing and if I like it he will do wheels for next to nothing, but I buy the paint.
