I have had an MVP superlift floor jack (cheap stuff, I know) for a few years and have hardly ever used it. I had an expedition for 6 years which I never turned a wrench to, except to change the oil. With my '97 XLT, I have had to do a lot of front end stuff, (shocks, control arms, stab. links etc...) and the jack worked fine the first few times I used it this month, but it now doesnt want to hold pressure under load. I dont see any leaking, and I wonder if anyone knows a way to tweak it so that it doesnt slowly back down as I get the truck higher and higher... It has the bleed pin to lock and raise it naturally, and another cap which was covered with a cap labelled "do not adjust"... I tried searching the web to no avail. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks

The instructions to bleed my big floor jacks go as follows:

1. Fill jack with oil.
2. Twist jack handle counter-clockwise (no pressure) on full turn and jack handle 6-8 times.
3. Twist jack handles fully clockwise and pump jack handle to fully extend lifting ram.
4. Continue pumping 6-8 times after jack has reached full height to bleed air.
5. Lower jack fully and check oil level. Fill as needed.
Repeat first 5 steps to ensure all air is removed from system.

Hope this helps.
