Blend Door Issue

Wow, that seems alot easier, of course the AC system will have to be re-charged, but GEEZUS after seeing how hard it is to remove the dahs from the other posts I am SOOOOOO glad I have an 88 BII.....I can take my dash out in about an hour, I mean the WHOLE stinking thing, which is good since I am on my 5th dash pad and 3rd gauge cluster........

OH and isnt the internet the most powerful tool EVER?????

I cant imagine building one of these trucks without it.....

I would go for it. You don't have much to lose by trying it.

I would find a shop that would recover the refridgerant for you and allow you to return for recharge after you have put in the new blend door.

Also, I would be tempted to see if I could find a used door at the salvage yard depending upon how much the dealer wants for the part.

Also, since I'm an engineer, I would be tempted to see if I could reinforce the part that gets broken, probably by using epoxy to glue on extra metal to strengthen the door.

Good luck

Gee, I with that I had known about this. I still have to slide the dash forward again to check the big connector to see if it is the cause of my dash lights not coming on. I'm assuming that you saw my fix. However, I don't think that I could have removed the actuator without pulling the dash. I couldn't get to that last screw until I pull the dash.

The part that broke on me was the hole for which the shaft of the actuator fits. Have fun trying to reinforce that. The door itselft was flapping freely.
