blew off my belt tentioner

i hopped in the x last night and started it up. i hear a akunk and a bang. i sat for a min thinkin on what it was and my battery light came on.?? i got out and looked under the truck, there was a strange looking black thing lying there. i didnt think much of it , i was kinda in a hurry, plus i live in dorms with 500 other automotive students so there are car parts all over the ground anyway. so i start driving and every thing seems alright.
i get about 3 blocks awya and my belt starts squeeling and my power steering goes out , next i hear a ting tang cling as a spring goes bouncing down the street. i pulled over and shut it off and popped the hood. i noticed my belt tentioner wasnt there at all. so i had a buddy come pick me up and take me to checker. a new belt tentioner is 40 friggin bucks, after my wallet was done suffering i put it in. i remember reading on this site that someone had to take off there radiator and a/c lines and airbox and some other components on the passenger side of the engine just to replae it. it took me 20 min all it takes is some fingering and a bloody thumb from the razor sharp radiator schroud. i think ford purpously made that sharp as heel just to piss me off. any way i thougt id share my story

Dang man...that's sucks!! I replaced my belt last weekend and all I had to remove was the air intake. The whole thing took about 20 minutes.

same thing happened to me. i have a 95 with 80,000 miles. i was drivin the other night and i heard this spring pop. battery light went on, lost power steering, and started to overheat. luckily my house was 1/2 mile away so i just sat in front of someones house for an hour to let the engine cool and drove it home. it ****ing sucked tho!
