Blinking CEL means significant misfire is being detected in real time.
Solid CEL when the engine is running means that a trouble code is stored in the PCM.
Check the routing of your spark plug wires--
The #7 wire comes close to the header in my truck-
Wait until it is dark, and look under the hood while the engine is running-You might need to rev it a bit. The darkness will help you see arcing from the wires to the header if it is occurring.
Hmm, well I went out with spray bottle of water and saw arching on the number 6 wire and the headers. 7 actually looked fine, but when I was checking for a burnt wire I may have nudged it away from the headers. The guy that did my engine installation after it was rebuilt put on Carmax wires (didn't even know Carmax made ignition wires). My bet is they have **** for shielding. So tomorrow I'll put on my old Motocraft wires and see if that helps any.
