Hi hope fully some may be able to help here, i have just completed a Central Value Body VB replacement and have a issue.

The X goes through all the gears great and the OD is working ok but the OD light is flashing again as soon as you start but sometimes goes out when cruising on the motorway??

One other thing i have noticed is a low pitch whistle coming from under the X ?

Any one able to help me out here

I have just ordered a Code reader but that will take a few weeks to get to me here in Aussie

Did you use a 1/4" drive In/Lb torque wrench on the valve body bolts? Which code reader did you order? I hope that you ordered one that's capable of reading manufacturer specific transmission codes.

Sorry been busy with work, yes i purchased a 1/4 " torque wrench just for the job and did it in stages up to the correct setting.
The reader i have been advised does not do the trans codes (i double asked as they said it would) they now say they can not guarantee it will !!! Great back to square one.
I prefer a cable and Notebook solution any advise on what will do this and read transmission codes ?

Another development with the X, today firstlt loud whistle sounds when you plant your foot and also the alternator seems not to be charging.
Driving home and and X slipped into what seemed to be neutral and when you put you foot done revs but sounds like it is slipping big time.
Also now no reverse

You never said why you replaced the valve body, if the trans has internal problems, a valve body replace can't fix it. You need to get the code or codes read. Did you look carefully at the valve body gasket before putting it in like they tell you to and if it shows damage you should use new gaskets?

Hi The VB was a Central Valve Body Kit with bonded gasket etc

The original issue was similar ie slipping in gears with the need to foot off the pedal and on to change gears and failed to find reverse sometimes

I don't know but it sounds (the whistle) like separator plate problems.

Value Body replacement

Further to my problems, I am back to where i started before the VB replacement , with the transmission slipping and the New oil black and burnt.

Can some one recommend a Code reader solution, that will read transmission codes prefer a Cable Notebook computer method as need to get those codes read and no dealer here has a reader that will read Transmission codes or they say they do charge me a fee and say no codes, plus will not tell me what brand made model there reader is (!?)

Sounds like you have an internal clutch failure, and driving it long enough to burn the oil black from slipping only ruined the clutch further.

Sounds like that is the case , will search "internal clutch failure"

Cheers

I have the Equus 3150 Innova Code Scanner works great. I don't know of any laptop interfaces.

I done a search on laptop interfaces, and the interface and software costs more than a code scanner, reviews are bad, not reliable, hard to connect and drops the connection and puts in random codes. Also the software is for one model only. This is what I found, there may be good ones but the cost is probably very high.

It reads Transmission Codes OK ?
Some of the feed back i am getting from Suppliers is that Readers will only read codes if Engine check light is on ?

The check engine light is for the engine only--The OD light flashing is for the transmission only. They are separate. Some scanners only read Check engine light, OBD2 codes.
The 3150 Reads OBD2 and DTC trans codes( Diagnostic Trouble Codes) and it reads ABS codes. It sells for around $150.00 US here.
The OD light will stop flashing ever time you restart the engine, it may also start flashing again right after starting or it might not flash again for many miles but the DTC transmission code remains stored in the computer.
The 3150 can also erase all codes. Erasing does not fix the problem.

I read all this again and you burnt the oil black twice, at this point it doesn't matter what the code or codes are the trans is fried, it needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

Yes i think you are right, i will swap out the Transmission asap, found one for $900 that wrecker says was working fine, do you think i should in this transmission put my Central Valve Bodies Rebuilt VB in ? or not tempt fate and just swap out ?

I wouldn't change anything, if you do and there is a problem the wrecker will say you did it.

Do you know how many miles are on that transmission?
