Ok, here's the deal. Got a sweet deal on my X, salvage title for $1000. Needed blower motor fixed, new exhaust and blinker issues. Blinkers and exhaust fixed, I'm still scratching my head on the blower motor.
I pulled the resistor assembly and tested with an Ohmmeter, and it all tested within spec, I even replaced it with one from a junkyard just to make sure. I hooked the blower motor up directly to a 12 volt/20 amp power supply, and it spins like a madman.
After checking all fuses, I'm still searching for the blower motor relay. I did an extensive search, and most of the posts I read were for 2nd gen explorers.
I've been told it's behind the headlight. I've already bought the relay, and checked some relays that are UNDERNEATH the fuse box under to hood, but they don't look like what I'm trying to find.
Question #1. Does anyone know for sure where this relay is?
Question #2. If that doesn't fix it, can I wire the blower up direct to a switch? Has anyone else done this in an extreme situation? It only draws like 12 or 15 amps I think, so I have the guage of wire needed for this, and I'm gonna wire it hot and fuse it if I have to, and run it to a switch in the cab.
Any one got any ideas?
P.S. Hurry up with your answers, I'm freezin my butt off in that thing!!!
