I have a 2000 xlt with the 4.0 liter. The blower motor started not operating at start up intermittently a month ago but would kick on, seemingly when I hit a bump. This was on all speeds, not just 1 and 2.

Of course, when it got cold, it died more regularly. I started whacking the housing and the first time it came back full force, then the next time it was weak for a bit but came to life. Now it's dying while operating, just goes away on all speeds.

I'm assuming it's the motor itself. This rig has 326K on it, so not hard to imagine the blower motor has konked out. But just want to make sure I'm not wasting time replacing the blower motor (pull the cruise control assembly and whatever else has to be moved).

Could it be the resistor or something else in that neck of the woods? And where exactly is the resistor? I haven't looked too hard, but it would be nice to start on the right part of the vehicle.

Any help appreciated.

Hey...did you ever solve this? I have the same problem.

I ended up replacing the blower motor, blower motor relay and resistor...so far so good.
