Today my blower motor worked for about three seconds and *pop* died. The A/C still works, I can tell when I'm actually rolling, I get a little bit of VERY cold air. I checked both fuses, one in the side of the dash that said 'blower motor relay', also the one at the distribution box (big one) 50A, both looked fine. The parts guy said something about a resistor, and then something else about evaporators. Has this happened to anyone? What was the problem? How much did it cost?

Thanks in advance,
Scott Brawner

Mine does that once in the while, but only on the hottest and the coldest days. First I try slamming the passenger door and if that don't work then I hit the fan motor cover under the hood with the flashlight. It usually only takes on hit. I know it's not a fix, and one of these days I'm going to tear into it, but until then.......

Welp, I checked the power up to the motor, it all looks good, it appears to be a dead winding maybe or fried motorguts. I'm gonna go try the old slamming door trick, I already took a wrench to it, but it was pretty hot (100+) today so maybe it will behave. Thanks.

Scott-the blower motor in my '91 stops once in a while. Its probably the brushes and need to be replaced which I will do in the next couple months. When it stops, I go under the hood and knock on the blower motor housing with my fist a couple of times and it runs. I've been doing this for over a year, but I know its only a matter of time before this won't work any longer. I priced a new motor and found one for about $40. Hope this helps.
