Hello community, I am new on here, so I hope I am doing this right. I just finished changing out a bad fuel pressure regulator on my 1991 Explorer. I started it up and it went from running rough to smooth in under a minute. The concern I have is that it is blowing a lot of white smoke. I assumed this was the burnoff of excess fuel left in the system from the old regulator. The problem is that I ran it for 10 minutes, it is completely warmed up and still smoking like it is running way to rich. Am I missing something? Or will this burn off and run right soon.

Welcome to this Great site !!

Did You Change anything other Than The Regulator When you Were Replacing Items , Was it Not Smoking At all Before the Swap ?

Welcome to the forum!

You need to figure out what exactly is being turned into smoke. Hold your hand under the exhaust for 30 seconds - if your hand is now wet and there's a slightly sweet smell, it's probably coolant. Other smells or stuff on your hand will give clues to some other fluid being vaporized.

The original problem was the Fuel Pressure Regulator went bad. It blew off multiple vacuum lines and flooded gas into the cylinders to the point that smoke, and liquid gas were coming out of the tailpipe. With the regulator changed I no longer have the liquid gas coming out, just the smoke. Could the smoke just be the excess gas in the exhaust system burning off?

The exhaust does still stink of fuel, although it started almost completely white, what is coming out now is more of a light blue color
