well guys,
after 150000 miles the engine finally quit. i have another one and i'm gonna replace it. looks like this will be awhile though, i hope to get it in by the end of the summer. right now i'm just replacing the seals and gaskets, oil pump and water pump. just to be sure that the old one that i bought last year doesnt leak.

That "other motor" you have is a good motor!!!:D :D :D Served me well for years and was well taken care of. Glad to see it's gonna power another X soon. Good Luck with the rebuild and install!!

jeff,
i've got most of the motor apart right now. only thing i need is to get the fan off, the flywheel off and take the oil pan off. one of the bolts for the oil pan is stripped so thats gonna be interesting.

the install is gonna be interesting as i've never done it before

Gimme a yell if you need help. I've done more motors than I care to remember. Biggest thing is LABEL EVERYTHING!!! Make sure you mark every wire, tube, hose etc. that you disconnect from the old motor before you yank it. It just makes life a lot easier doing the install.

well, it looks like this is gonna be ana all summer project now, just picked up a jeep wrangler today for my transportation. trust me,when i need help i know to give you a call
