I can't seem to find a place to order one of these exhausts, I called about ten places on the list at fordracing.com but they all said they couldn't get it and summit said it was over $300 or $400. If any of you could tell me where you got your's and give me a contact for it that'd be great. I might go down to the dealership tomorrow to see if they can help me out too. Do I just give them the part # on the fordracing website? Thanks

I ordered mine through Summit by giving them the part number for the exhaust from the fordracing web site. The guy taking the order confirmed the price of 165, told me they were back-ordered by about 2 weeks, and finished up with the order. The total came out to about 180 or so after adding shipping and handling. It sounds like dealers are getting them in quicker than this though, so you might try there first. Otherwise, try that part number through Summit and let them know where you got it from. If I can help you any further feel free to email me at craigsim@earthlink.net. Good Luck!!

Hey there fellas. Are this the same exhaust system that is in all of the catalogs for $400. Is it stainless steel? Or are they some cheaper version? I just want to know before I order mine.

It's stainless steel, its the SAME system as advertised other places for 400+ dollars. It's just a great deal, plus the 95-96 2 door system works on 97 explorers too. Sounds great too.

What did you guys do with your catalytic converter? Does it come off of the old system and you just put it on the new system or did you have to buy a new catalytic converter?

The catalytic converter does not get taken off at all. You just unbolt the muffler from the converter and bolt on the new muffler. Make sure you get a new gasket.

I pick mine up Tues. ..WHAT A PAIN !!. Now I know why someone said " you may have to dig to find someone to get them for you". The company listed as Where To Buy on fordracing.com didn't have a clue and wanted $225 (still a good price )
after 5 phone calls ..etc... its a done deal !
I'll be back for tips, and Will get a good gasket..
OH, not many of the 4dr systems left (he said 4 at ford racing)
GOOD LUCK

I called 3 of the area Ford dealers here in Kansas City and
finally got a phone number to a dealership in Witchta that had the part number! The dealer order the cat-back from Ford Racing and is shipping it to me from there.
I'm really looking forward to installing this exhaust from all the good posts I've read on Borla. Thanks guys!

Have any of you thought about getting the exhaust pipe bent so that it becomes a side exhaust behind the right rear tire? Having this new Borla Tip right at the back bumper limits departure angles and ground clearance when going up a hill! Any ideas on how much work this would be or a guestamate on how much it would cost to have it bent? Just some ideas would be great. waddayathink?

Guys, the part number is RIGHT THERE on the site, use that number to get your exhaust.

The problem with the part numbers was not us finding them, the problem was with the listed "authorized dealers" finding them. Excessive Motorsports could not cross-reference the number I gave them nor could 3 Ford dealers I called. Rusty Eck Ford Motorsports (Witichata, KS) finally came through for me by calling Ford Racing! The Ford Racing webpage list of "where to buy" proved useless in my case.

Does anyone know if the 2 door kit will fit a 98? I saw that someone said that it will fit a 97.

I installed my new Borla cat-back today was real EZ and sounds good, now my Explorer sounds as good as it looks.
Now what will I add on next? LOL

Picked mine up yesterday. Now to install. I probably wont be able to get to it for a couple'o weeks. OK, gives me some time to prep.
Wade....1/2 hour, that's great.

I want to give an endorsement to RaceParts Dist. in Cornelius, NC. They are in the heart of NASCAR country and did good by me. For heavy mods to your auto, they got it all. They work closely with Ford Racing....and, get this, the 'normal' price for the Borla was $225 (bout half of anyone else)..but got it to me for the 165...

If not for this forum, I would have never known.

Thnx.........:D

It might fit the '97 OHV V6, but according to Borla it won't fit the SOHC V6 on my '97. I contacted them after seeing that Fordracing.com only had a kit for the '95-'96. Borla said it would not fit my '97, it is a completely different part number. I just checked their web site and they now show the kit (#14748) for a '97-'98 SOHC has dual tips. The listing in middle of their list shows the same part number but it is listed for a '97 only and has a single tip. I wish Fordracing.com would offer the one for my SOHC V6 for $165!

just got the Borla cat-back installed,for my '99 sohc,part # was 14748,sounds great,came with a hat,dual square tips,looks fantastic,sounds even better !!!!!,

Which system will fit the 98 Sport? Will the one for the 99 work?

Borla's website lists part # 14748 for '97-'98 2 doors. Per Bill's post, it looks like it also fits the '99 2 doors.

Bill,

Did you get a good deal? I am still trying to find 14748 for my '97 for less than $200. Unfortunately, Fordracing.com's Borlas are for '95-'96 V6s only, not the SOHC V6. Cheapest I have found is about $360 after using a $100 off coupon at CarParts.com.
