Brake Fluid Flushing via vaccum device or just filling the Master Cylinder up and bleeding over and over to get new fluid into the system is what I am talking about.

Who does it? The intervals for this is about every 2 years. So I bet a lot of you all are saying "uhh- I haven't done it...ever -- but my brakes still feel great"! Well, the truth is... DOT 3/brake fluid absorbs water, which rusts and contaiminates the lines and brake parts (i.e. calipers and wheel cylinders). So it's actually very valuable. I just did mine when I did my rear brakes. That is usually when you see a Brake Fluid Flush done - brake jobs.

i do mine when ever i do a brake job, ive seen way too many times the nasty crap brake fluid thats way past its life (brake fluid is NOT suposed to be black) come in to our shop

The lack of a flush from the previous owner of my ex resulted in contaminated brake lines - the front calipers started sticking and a complete overhaul was required - not cheap :fire:

2 years or every brake job, which ever comes first.
Its cheap and easy DIY item with a helper, a hose and a mayo jar.

I do it myself, usually more then every 2 years just because it works out that way! hahaha Always replacing something on the BII. Anytime I install a new caliper, axle, brake line, etc.
The 96 explorer I recently got had 154K miles on it, brake fluid looked OEM, so did the rear e brake shoes, so I suspect it had NEVER been done.
I flushed the system with a one man vacuum bleeder after replacing all the pads, but not before I drove it. I can tell you there was a HUGE difference in the braking with the old fluid vs the new.
Brake fluid is just like any other fluid in your truck, it gets old/hot it wears out and cannot perform like it should.

I did it at 120k, first time. I'm moving it up on my list of regular maintenance though.

Every 2-3yrs I will run a quart or so of fresh brake fluid through all my brake lines...

The only time the brake fluid get flushed on my vehicles is when i have to break a line to replace a caliper or wheel cylinder or a brake line for that matter

I just changed my oil and noticed the brake fluid was looking pretty nasty. I change the fluid in my Mustang pretty regularly and it always looks clear. But when it comes to the Explorer, I always seem to put it off till later then forget about it. It's on my list of things to take care of when it warms up outside.
