Looking at replacing all four brakes on my Ex and I was wondering if anyone knew the life expectancy of a brake hose. They all look good but the calipers are starting to stick. They are about 2 years old and have about 30K on them.

"They" meaning the hoses or the calipers?

At 21-22 years old I'd say the rubber hoses are past it (they deteriorate from the inside, so how they look on the outside doesn't mean much). Also check the steel lines, especially the rear and they tend to rust and leak.

Most hoses should last at least ten years. If a caliper sticks, it usually from the vehicle parked and not driven for long periods. Replace those in pairs when it happens.

Steel brake lines are fine, but the hoses are OEM factory. Just replaced the rotors with Raybestos Professional Grade, and pads with Raybestos Element3 Hybrids. The Element3 Hybrids are thicker than the PPG series I had on it, but I really like the grip much better than the PPGs. I already have the hoses all Motorcraft so I will be installing them this weekend along with rebuilding my BW4405. When it rains it pours!

Just replaced all front and rear brake hoses and what a difference. Nice firm pedal and and no more sticking brake calipers. Took about three hours from start to finish including flushing and bleeding the system. Went ahead and replaced Master Cylinder as it was OEM factory. FYI, lines took a 7/16" flare wrench.
