2007 sport trac xlt
hello,
i have a 2007 sport trac xlt. i was told that doing a standard brake job cannot be done in my garage, that there is a special procedure to change pads and rotors. i have done many brake jobs on various cars. i have never heard that there was a special procedure or having to bleed the brakes when i was done. is it possible that this is a special brake system that needs to be serviced by a ford tech, or is someone pulling my leg? the front rotors are warped and the brake pedal pulsates. i was gonna put new pads and rotors on, but now i am leary cause i don't want the truck disabled in my garage cause i didn't research the job before doing it. any help would be appreciated!
thanks jeff

Not sure why someone told you that a brake job on a 2007 Sport Trac was any different, the only thing I can think of is that if you have to replace a caliper for some reason you may need a FORD scan tool to activate the ABS to bleed the system.

i pulled the wheels and looked at. $258 in parts. i replaced front pads, front rotors, rear pads, and rear rotors. all went good. i think local garage was using the "sport trac" model to justify a $900 brake job. unreal! no wonder why people don't like dealing with repair shops. you never know when someone is gonna bend you over!
thanks for the input

I have a local shop I trust. When I am out of town and need repairs I have found the dealership to be almost as trustworthy.
