My right rear brake line blew, so I replaced it. But it got me thinking... should I replace the rest of them? They all have some level of rust, but are not leaking.

I've read that the brake line I replaced is a common issue (it blew right on top of the rear differential). I wonder if there are other common trouble spots or if there there a rule of thumb for this sort of thing.

It's a pain of a job that I don't want to bother with if I don't need to. But I do want the vehicle to be safe. Thanks for any suggestions!

Rubber brake lines are surprisingly tough. They have to be. Imagine the liability the manufacturers would face if they were wear items? Mine has 250K miles and that is the only trouble spot I noticed when mine failed.

Thanks. I looked at the rubber lines and they definitely seem OK. I've got about 135K on mine now... no problems there.

I am still concerned about the steel ones though...
