brakes exploded

anyone online who can help me....my driver side caliper exploded,i know why,but my problem is thatt i'm new to my explorer and i don't know how toget the rotor to come off of the hub to replace them,i need to know if their are any special tools neede to take off the lockers,my 4 wheel drive is all stock,so it's the automatic lockers.HELP ME PLEASE!!! :fire:

Yes you need a spanner wrench, aka hub tool.
You will also need a magnet or a small O ring pick to get the keeper out of the spindle.
This is to get the wheel bearings and rotor off the spindle.

If you are new to Ford them you will also have to push out the caliper slide pins, a flathead and mamer works nicely, just tap metal not rubber.

The Haynes manual is helpful, or you can search this forum, try auto hubs, wheel bearings, etc.

thank you for your info 410....but i actually got it figured out about 5 minutes later.....someine else had a problem with the lockpins and he said to just punch them through,so that's what i did,the lockers came off nicely,and everything else just went smooth,so now i have new rotors,calipers,and pads on both sides of the front,now all i have to do is tackle the rear end........thanks for the info again though...take care

Whoa sounded easy. I have auto hubs and I have to disassemble everything to replace the rotor, including reseating new bearing seals in the back. Lucky dog.

he has autohubs as well, they arent difficult to work with, jsut about as hard as the regular hubs... but you need to know what you are dealing with first....
