Brakes... this time

Ok guys i think i've got my tranny probs fixed... now it's off to the brakes... the back brake line is bad so i'm going to cap it until i get some more money to replace all the lines at once... but since it is broke there is air in all the lines and i've never really messed with brakes before and i cannot find any specifics on bleeding the front brakes because as of right now i have just barely enough brakes to stop it going 15 mph... any info on bleeding or just simple brake info would be greatly appriciated...The ABS and Parking brake light are on... and no the parking brake isnt on and hasnt been engaged since i got he vehicle...it came on after the back line broke

bleading the brakes would normally start in the rear , I don't encourage what you are about to do , not safe.

I understand it isnt safe... which is why I am not going to drive it like that..but i do need brakes to get it to the shop... because im going to have all new all the way around... drums, pads, shoe's the whole works including all new brake lines...i just need a temp fix

Did you break the hardline that runs on the frame rail to the rear axle brake block? If so, that needs to be repaired before you want to bleed the brakes. It is not recommended to only run the front brakes for stopping. You should have a bleeder screw on the rear brakes.

yes i broke the hard line.. i was going to temp. block it off until i can afford to get the brakes all done... just need to know any suggestions so i can get it back on the road

the hard brake lines on your 93 explorer are standard lengths and sizes available at any parts store, all you have to do is maybe a few slight bends by hand. You see Ford used standard hard line sections along your frame rail and also on the rear axle from drum to drum, so repairing the line is not as hard or expensive as you might think.

You can block off the rear line and the front brakes will function.
Your lights will stay on of course, and this is not the safest thing in the world, but it can get you to the repair shop.

If you have not run out of brake fluid or messed with the front brakes then they should not need to be bled. The front and rear are independant hydraulic systems for safety reasons. If you do need to bleed or want to fix your brakes yourself the first thing to do is get a repair manual for your vehicle.
