Wanted brightest lights

Parts or services wanted
I personally bought a 4300K set of HIDs from VVME.com and they are fantastic. Before I NiteShade'd my headlight housings, people would be flashing the hell out of me thinking I had my brights on. Even though they're not as bright now due to the NiteShade, I can still see incredibly well. Check out they're site, see what you think. I got my kit for around $120, and that's including shipping from China.

Um, they're flashing you because you've got them aimed too high and HID kits are notorious for throwing a lot of glare using standard headlight housings which are not meant to have HIDs in them. Spend the time to aim them better which usually involves aiming your lights lower. If they're flashing you, it's because you're blinding them.

I've been using HID kits for several years now. Believe me, you can have them set up so that people rarely flash you. I'm even better off these days because I have my HIDs installed in a projector headlight housing. I never get flashed anymore.

Survey says... wrong. I angled them properly before I even hit the road, trust me, I knew to do this because I researched the hell out of it. Even with my headlamps painted with VHT NiteShade, making them much darker obviously, they I still get flashed every once in awhile. Plus, I have my lights angled all the way down, so theres not much more that I can do than spend $300 on projector houses, which, not uh, no way am I doin that. Plus, people in the South can't drive for jack, so I don't pity them when they can't see :D They haven't hit me yet, and when they do, then I'll think about it

So you're saying that you had to coat your headlights with tail light tint so that people won't flash you? Sorry, you probably shouldn't have HIDs in your ride if that's the case. Is your ride lifted or something? [EDIT: I just saw the link in your sig....lifting is probably why you can't get them focused properly] People don't flash you because the lights are bright....they flash you because they're shining in their eyes. Notice the distinction. You'll get flashed using Wal Mart house brand bulbs if they're giving off glare and not aimed correctly.

Angling HIDs down is only part of the equation. With these HID kits I find you've got to angle them a bit to the right as well to adjust for the added glare of using HIDs. It will be rare to get flashed if you've done it right. I base these comments on using three different HID kits and the crappy "Diamond Cut" headlights for 2nd gen Explorers which throw a lot of glare.

The only way you'll know you've done it right is when people stop flashing you outright which can be an elusive goal with these kits. It took me weeks of tweaking to get my last kit right and then one of the ballasts died a year or so later. The guy who sold me the kit upgraded me to better ballasts and bulbs and it took me eons to get it right again. I do have a projector setup now so much better. Those took some tweaking too but much less effort because they don't give off the glare that my old headlights did.

All right, well I only read half your post and then couldn't read anymore cus everything you've said about what I've done is wrong, but I'm not going to have a pissing contest with you online, so I'll close with this. One: I tinted my lights because I can, regardless of the fact it's illegal. And two: I was getting flashed before my lift, so that's totally irrelevant. So I'm not going to finish reading your post, nor am I going to answer any further posts, so yeah. Plus, we're totally pushing this thread in no direction that will help anyone at all, so I'm leaving it at that.

In other words....you're taking your ball and going home.

FWIW, it does help people to learn NOT to get flashed by oncoming traffic. It can be done without tinting your headlights. (which tends to defeat the purpose of the superior output of HID bulbs in the first place). If you were getting flashed before the lift, then obviously you've had it wrong from the start.

I do see why you're not getting flashed as much these days. Those are some dark headlights you've got there:

hmmm, i get flashed with stock lights and after paying 40 $ to get them aimed properly at a garage,, and i didn't do anything to mine except new factory lights, my old ones were all yellowed, and hazy,

I'd take them back and get them to re-do it. Or try tweaking yourself. It's pretty simple on 2nd gens. If I recall, a 6mm socket on a screwdriver handle is all it takes.

Yeah, those OEM lights sure get yellow. :thumbdwn:

hella lights

the other week i upgraded to hella xenon blue headlights. there not a blue tint but more of a pure white and made a huge difference. lights up the night now!
