I killed my explorer moving it to St. Louis from Ohio (overheated while towing) and have hesitated getting the engine and tranny repaired but after 2 years of storage costs . I want to bring it back and can use any advice on how to do it and and do it bigger and stronger.

It starts and runs but loses all power after 10 minutes or so , had a 1700.00 estimate to replace a cylinder but got another for 2200.00 to replace the motor. Wondered if a different year 4.0 or different size motor would work better?

Compression test

My mechanic said one cylinder had no or little compression.

welcome

All the OHV motors will work but you have to change about all the parts over. (Pumps, sensors, ect.)
